New Delhi: BMW M3 buyers could be in for a treat with the option of having both ICE and electric powertrains. The next-gen M3 will come as both a complete battery-electric super saloon or ICE motoring car. BMW, though, is saying that it will retain its soul.

As per a report from Autocar, it will come with both versions that will stay authentic to the M brand nameplate. Sylbia Neubauer, Vice President of Sales for BMW’s M division, said the electric M3 will be just the way it is, irrespective of the drivetrain it comes in. Essentially, the M division, even in an electric powertrain, will be a performance car, and while running on batteries, you can make the EVs have an immense amount of torque generation.

The 2027 BMW M3 electric will be coming with the Neue Klasse styling. Most importantly, however, the electric M3 will likely come with a quad-motor configuration, which will deliver about 1,000 horsepower. This will be a very important machine for BMW, as this will be the M division’s first electric product.

BMW, of course, knows its core fans don’t want just an electric powertrain version on offer. This upcoming M3 should be coming with a straight-six power, and there is a strong chance that electrification will have some part in it. 

High-performance cars are increasingly going towards hybrid tech, and the results are hard to ignore. There is a massive power, seamless torque delivery without any lag, and surprisingly improved efficiency as well. While the weight increases, the power kind of makes up for it. BMW is being intelligent in this matter, in terms of two powertrain choices for the M3.

Everyone knows what the ICE can do, but there is no denying that the quad-motor M3 will be no less. BMW have also said that both the powertrains should be coming in the same price range, which is another piece of great news.
