There is still a lot of time left to decide which team will play in the final of IPL 2026. The final of the tournament is to be played on 31 May. The journey to reach the final is still long. However, current champion Royal Challengers Bangalore is considered a contender to reach the finals for the second consecutive time. In such a situation, RCB and its fans would like that the team reaches the finals and wins the title at its home ground Chinnaswamy Stadium. But these wishes may come true and there is a special reason due to which BCCI can take such a decision.
The Indian Cricket Board has not yet announced the schedule of the playoff matches of IPL 2026. Four matches including the final are to be played in the playoffs, the date and venue of which have not been decided yet. However, it is expected that 2 matches including the final will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This is expected because it has become a tradition in IPL that the first and final matches of the season are played on the ground of the current winner.
Will the final not be held in Bengaluru?
On the basis of this, the first match of the season was also played in Bengaluru and hence it is not wrong to expect to play the final. But a report states that this time the situation may be different. ANI's report has revealed that BCCI may snatch the final from Chinnaswamy Stadium this time and the reason for this is not because of the incident of last season.
In fact, the report has claimed that the issue of giving free tickets to MLAs is becoming a hurdle in the way of organizing the final in Bengaluru. Quoting BCCI sources, it has been told that if this matter is not resolved then the board may be forced to snatch the final from Bengaluru and organize it at another venue.
MLAs are getting free tickets
This stadium and Karnataka Cricket (KSCA) are under pressure since the accident that happened during RCB's victory parade last year. In such a situation, at the beginning of this season, when the green signal was given to organize the tournament in the stadium, an MLA from Karnataka had demanded to give 5 free tickets to all the MLAs, which created an uproar. In such a situation, KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad met Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, after which a middle path was found and it was agreed to give 3 free tickets to all the MLAs for the matches played in Chinnaswamy.
