Special weekend snack
On weekends I often feel like eating something new and spicy. If you are bored of old pakodas and samosas, then Suji Chilli Rings can be a great alternative. These rings are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, making them a perfect snack for every occasion, from children’s tiffin to evening tea. Come, let us know the easy way to make these.
Material
Semolina – 1 cup
Water – 2 cups
Oil – 2 tbsp
Chili Flakes – 1 tsp
Coriander – finely chopped
Cumin – 1 tsp
Crushed black pepper – half teaspoon
Method of preparation
Place 2 cups of water in a pan to heat. Add cumin, salt, chili flakes and one spoon oil to it. When the water starts boiling, reduce the flame to low.
Gradually add semolina and keep stirring continuously so that lumps do not form. Keep stirring until the semolina absorbs all the water and forms a dough.
Turn off the gas and keep the semolina covered for 5 minutes so that it gets cooked in steam. When it becomes lukewarm, take it out in a wide plate.
Add finely chopped coriander and black pepper over it. Apply a little oil on your hands and knead the mixture for 3 to 4 minutes until it becomes smooth.
Make small balls and roll them into a long stick. Then join both the edges and make a round ring. Prepare all the rings and place them in a plate.
Heat oil in a pan and put the rings in it. Deep fry until golden and crisp. Then take them out on tissue paper and serve with your favorite chutney or ketchup.
