DGCA’s strict rules regarding power banks in flights

It is noteworthy that DGCA had issued new rules regarding power banks in 2026. According to them, power banks are allowed to be carried only in hand luggage in flights. It is strictly prohibited to keep power banks in check-in bags.

Also, power banks cannot be used to charge phones or other devices during the flight. It is clearly stated in the rules that power banks cannot be kept even in the overhead compartment. The reason for this is that if a fire occurs in an overhead bin, it is very difficult to identify and extinguish it.

The crew can take immediate action if a cabin fire occurs. This incident once again reminds us how much caution is necessary regarding electronic devices and power banks in flight. A small carelessness can become a big accident.
