Lucknow News: The national president of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, has launched a fierce critique against the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh regarding the implementation of prepaid electricity meters. He characterized this issue as a battle between the public and the government, asserting that widespread protests and public pressure forced the government to retreat, which he hailed as a significant victory for the people.
In his statement, Yadav accused the government of overcharging citizens under the guise of the prepaid meter system. He argued that this issue transcends mere technical improvements and represents a new form of corruption that imposes financial burdens on the public. He demanded that adjustments be made in future electricity bills for consumers who have been overcharged.
He further criticized the government, questioning why transparent adjustments in electricity bills cannot be made when advanced technologies like artificial intelligence are used to remove names from voter lists. His remarks have been interpreted as a direct challenge to the electoral strategy and the use of technology.
Call for Refund of Public FundsAkhilesh Yadav accused the BJP government of oppression and corruption, stating that the informed citizens of Uttar Pradesh will no longer tolerate such actions. He emphasized that the funds collected through inflated electricity bills belong to the public and must be returned.
SP's Commitment to FightYadav warned that if the government fails to take satisfactory action on this issue, the Samajwadi Party, along with the public, will initiate a significant movement. He described this as a matter of public interest, asserting that the SP will continue this fight from the streets to the assembly.
