Delhi: The match played between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 proved to be one-sided. In this match, Delhi’s batting did not live up to the expectations and the team scored only 155 runs while batting first. Chasing the target, Chennai registered victory in a very comfortable manner.

Delhi’s weak batting became the reason for defeat

Delhi Capitals, who came to bat first after winning the toss, had a very poor start. The team lost its five important wickets in just 69 runs. After this, Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi tried to handle the innings in the middle order. Stubbs scored 38 runs, while Rizvi played a useful inning of 40 not out, due to which the team somehow managed to reach 155 runs.

Chennai’s easy victory, Samson’s brilliance

Chennai Super Kings, chasing the target of 155 runs, won the match without much pressure. Sanju Samson batted brilliantly for the team and played an unbeaten inning of 87 runs. His powerful innings included seven fours and six sixes, which made the match completely one-sided.

Captain Akshar Patel’s statement

Giving his reaction after the match, Akshar Patel said that despite the initial setbacks, the team had scored a respectable score. However, while talking about bowling, he hinted towards the performance of Kuldeep Yadav. Akshar said that today was not Kuldeep’s day and the team felt his absence.

Also expressed opinion regarding the pitch

Axar Patel also commented on the behavior of the pitch and said that this was a wicket where the set batsman should have played longer. He admitted that if the batsmen had held on, the score could have been better. According to him, the team could have added 10-15 more runs, which could have changed the course of the match.

The road to playoffs became difficult

With this victory, Chennai got its fifth success in 10 matches and its playoff hopes have been strengthened. At the same time, the situation in Delhi has now become very difficult. To remain in the race for the playoffs, the team will have to win its remaining four matches at any cost, only then it can reach the maximum of 16 points.
