On Tuesday evening, chaos ensued in Jalandhar district, Punjab, when a scooter suddenly erupted into flames near a Border Security Force (BSF) checkpoint. The incident occurred around 8 PM, just outside the BSF's Punjab Frontier headquarters, located along a busy route connecting Amritsar and Delhi. According to police reports, traffic was flowing normally at the time of the incident. Suddenly, an Activa scooter caught fire, causing alarm among passersby. Local residents and witnesses reported hearing a loud bang from the vehicle, which intensified the flames.
Authorities confirmed that there were no injuries, and the area has been cordoned off. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, opposition parties have criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government regarding the explosion in Jalandhar. Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur stated that, at first glance, the fire originated from a parked Activa scooter. She mentioned that a police patrol was present in the vicinity at the time. In response to inquiries, Kaur noted that it is premature to conclude that an explosion occurred.
Political Repercussions Following the Incident
The incident, occurring in a sensitive area near the BSF headquarters, has also stirred political discussions. Opposition parties have targeted the ruling AAP government over security concerns and the reports of an explosion. They argue that the law and order situation in the state is becoming increasingly alarming. Currently, Gurpreet Singh, the 22-year-old owner of the scooter, claims that the fire ignited unexpectedly. The police are investigating all aspects of the case to uncover the true cause of the incident.
