Italy’s PM Georgia Meloni She also could not escape from becoming a victim of AI-deepfake picture, about which she has expressed her displeasure. These days, Meloni’s deepfake objectionable picture is going viral on social media. Describing this picture as fake, Meloni clarified that such techniques are being used to tarnish the image of people and mislead them.

On Tuesday, Meloni alerted people by sharing this edited picture on his official Facebook page. He also shared a screenshot of the post in which a user named “Roberto” had commented on him, taking it forward.

What did Melonie say on deepfake photo?

Meloni said in her post, “Deepfake is a dangerous tool because it can deceive, manipulate and target anyone. I can protect myself. Many other people can’t do that. I have to admit that whoever created them, at least in the attached case, has made me look good too. But the truth is that nowadays anything is used to attack and fabricate falsehoods.”

What warning did you give?

PM Maloney insisted that even though the photo was fabricated, it was clearly intended to damage his reputation. He said, “But the truth is that nowadays anything is used to attack and create falsehoods.” He appealed to the citizens not to share any content without verification, as this causes misinformation to spread rapidly. Although Meloni has not yet clarified whether she will take legal action in this matter or not, but many people have advised her to complain to the authorities.

Has Meloni been a victim before?

This is not the first time Melonie has been a victim of deepfake. Two years ago, she filed a defamation case against a man from Sardinia, who was accused of creating obscene deepfake photos using her face. This matter is still pending in the court.

Is there any law in Italy?

The Maloney government has made preventing the misuse of AI a priority. In September last year, Italy became the first country in the European Union to enact a comprehensive law governing AI. This law includes provisions for strict punishment, even jail, for misuse of technology like deepfakes, and also controls children’s access.
