Kolkata: The biggest news of this time is coming out from the politics of West Bengal. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may soon formally announce the name of the new Chief Minister of the state. According to sources, a very important meeting of BJP is going to be held in Kolkata on Friday, after which the name of the leader of the legislature party will be approved. It is believed that the ‘king maker’ of Nandigram and Bhawanipur, Shubhendu Adhikari, will take charge of Bengal.

The decision will be taken in the presence of Amit Shah

BJP has appointed Union Home Minister Amit Shah as an observer for Bengal. By winning 207 out of 293 seats in the Bengal Assembly, BJP has achieved a historic majority and overthrown Mamata Banerjee’s 15-year rule. In the meeting to be held on Friday, State President Shamik Bhattacharya can propose the name of Shubhendu Adhikari, on which Amit Shah will give the final approval. BJP has already made it clear that the Chief Minister of the state will be a ‘Bhoomiputra’ i.e. a Bengali.

Shubhendu Adhikari: Who defeated Mamata twice

Shubhendu Adhikari has emerged as the biggest face of BJP today. After leaving Mamata Banerjee in the year 2021, he defeated her in a direct contest in Nandigram. In the 2026 elections, BJP fielded him from Mamata Banerjee’s stronghold Bhawanipur. Here too, Shubhendu performed charisma and defeated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by a margin of about 15 thousand votes. His victory proved that the people of Bengal now want change.

‘Tough competition’ took place in Bhawanipur

The counting of votes on Monday was no less than a thriller film. Shubhendu was ahead in the initial round, but in the middle Mamata Banerjee had taken a lead of 17 thousand votes. However, by the 20th round, the tables turned and Shubhendu was declared victorious. Angered by this defeat, Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee have accused the Election Commission of conspiracy.

‘Public service is our goal’

After the victory, Subhendu Adhikari thanked the public and said that the new government will give priority to development and inclusive politics. “BJP is committed to building a prosperous and secure West Bengal. We will fulfill our promises and build a beautiful and developed state by taking everyone together,” he said.
