Emma Stone’s R-Rated Sequel Continues Streaming Success

A 2019 zombie comedy starring Emma Stone has found a second life among Netflix subscribers. Released a decade after the original film, the sequel became a commercial and critical hit. Now, seven years later, the film continues to show its influence.

Zombieland: Double Tap is high on Netflix’s streaming chart

Zombieland: Double Tap is currently the #7 film on Netflix’s Top 10 films in the United States, as per FlixPatrol’s data for May 5, 2026. It has been on the list since last week, indicating strong interest among subscribers.

Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan’s animated film, Swapped, which premiered on May 1, is leading the charts. It is followed by Charlize Theron’s Apex at #2, Bruce Willis’ Striking Distance at #3, Viggo Mortensen’s Green Book at #4, and Ryan Reynolds’ The Proposal at #5.

Zombieland: Double Tap is a sequel to the 2009 film Zombieland. Ruben Fleischer directed both films with a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. In addition to Reese and Wernick, David Callaham joined as a writer for the sequel.

The story takes place 10 years after the zombie outbreak. It follows Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock, the same lead characters from the original film, as they continue to navigate a zombie-infested America. A month after Wichita and Little Rock leave, Columbus and Tallahassee run into a ditzy young woman named Madison, who joins their little group. When Wichita returns, she tells others that her sister ditched her and headed to Graceland. The group then heads out to find Little Rock.

Zombieland: Double Tap’s cast features Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, Rosario Dawson, and Zoey Deutch, among others.

The film debuted in theaters in October 2019 and received a mixed-to-positive reception. On Rotten Tomatoesit has a critics’ score of 68% and a higher audience score of 88%. At the box office, it made approximately $122.8 million globally against a reported $42 million budget.
