All injured farmers were initially admitted to a local hospital in Luxettipet and later transferred to Karimnagar for better medical treatment. Their condition is now stable.
On Tuesday, around 10 farmers were guarding their paddy produce at a procurement centre in the village when the incident occurred. The farmers were trying to cover the stockpile with polythene sheets to shield the grain from being drenched at the time of incident. The local’s farmers are in shock after tragic incident. They asked government to support the family members of the victims.
The rains have affected normal life in district. Power supply was also disrupted due to electric poles being damaged by the strong winds. The traffic flow was also affected by the storm after routes were blocked due to trees and powerlines being uprooted. The residents have urged the government to restore in a quick manner.
Former BRS MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao visited the injured farmers at the hospital. He demanded that government provide instant relief and take measures to speed up the process of paddy procurement. He alleged that government negligence claimed the lives of four farmers.
