Delhi Police has arrested Abbas Khan, the mastermind of Mewat-based sextortion racket, from Rajasthan. The accused had cheated a youth of ₹ 2.52 lakh by luring him through a fake obscene video call.
Delhi Police has got great success in busting the sextortion racket. Police have arrested the alleged kingpin of the racket from Mewat, Rajasthan. It is alleged that the accused had defrauded a 21-year-old youth of ₹2.52 lakh through fake video call and blackmail.
A resident of Shalimar Bagh had filed a complaint of cyber fraud, in which he was cheated of Rs 2.52 lakh. According to the complainant, he received a friend request from a woman on Facebook. During the conversation, the accused took her mobile number. After this a video call came on WhatsApp, in which an obscene video was shown. After disconnecting the call, she started receiving threatening messages that her video had been recorded and it would be made viral.
Giving information on Wednesday, the police officer said that the 25-year-old accused has been identified as Abbas Khan and he is a resident of Alwar, Rajasthan. Police further said that several cases of sextortion and fraud are registered against the accused. Apart from this, he worked as a main operator in the cyber crime network.
According to Delhi Police, this matter came to light after an online complaint by a resident of Delhi. The complainant had said in it that after receiving a ‘friend request’ from a woman, he extorted money from her. According to the police, during the chat the complainant shared his mobile number, after which he received a video call in which obscene material was shown.
As soon as the call was disconnected, he started receiving threats that his video had been made and if he did not pay the money, it would be made viral on social media. Fearing defamation, the victim sent a total of Rs 2.52 lakh in several installments. Following the complaint, the police registered a case on January 12 and started investigation.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that he used to send friend requests to men by creating a fake Facebook ID. As soon as someone accepted the request, his WhatsApp number was taken. After this, pre-recorded obscene video was shown through video call and screen recording was also done.
