Will Hardik Pandya play against RCB or not? Update from Mumbai Indians camp
Samira Vishwas | May 7, 2026 1:24 AM CST

There has been a big update on the fitness of Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya. Hardik Pandya did not play in the last match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium on May 4 due to back stiffness. In his absence, Suryakumar Yadav took charge of MI. By registering a win in this match, MI kept itself in the race for the playoffs.

MI’s next match is against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Raipur. RCB has chosen Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur as its second home venue. The first batch of MI has reached Raipur to face them here on May 10, in which Hardik was not included. There is speculation that Hardik may stay out of this match also. Meanwhile, a big update has come from the MI camp on his fitness.

What was revealed about Hardik’s fitness?

On Hardik’s injury, a source associated with MI told news agency PTI that his injury is minor and he was asked to rest for a match. The source said that he is likely to be fit for the next match. He will play in a very important match against RCB.

Speculations are intense about Hardik

MI’s performance under the captaincy of all-rounder Hardik has not been good. His team is on the verge of being out of IPL 2026. Even if MI wins its remaining three matches, it will still be able to reach only 14 points, which will not be enough to make it to the playoffs. There is discussion on social media that MI management is not happy with Hardik and is thinking of removing him from the captaincy.

These rumors have gained further strength after Hardik did not participate in the match against LSG and then did not travel to Raipur with the first batch of the team. Some social media users have even claimed that Hardik no longer wants to play in the remaining matches. However MI source has completely rejected these rumours.
