Karnataka State Cricket Association spokesperson Vinay Mrutyunjay issued a statement saying that the association is disappointed with this decision. He told that KSCA President and former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad had himself contacted BCCI and expressed his desire to hold the playoff at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He also said that Karnataka Cricket Association was fully prepared and has the capacity to host such big matches.

BCCI made it clear in its decision that KSCA could not fulfill some necessary conditions, due to which Bengaluru was not given hosting rights. After this Ahmedabad got a chance again.

Playoffs will be held at three different venues
It is noteworthy that from May 26, the playoff matches will be played at three different venues, but Bengaluru was kept out of it. Another angle has come to light in this entire matter. Some sources in KSCA say that the tussle between the MLAs and the Cricket Association regarding tickets could also be the reason for this decision. Recently some MLAs of Karnataka had demanded free tickets for IPL matches. Congress MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar had said that he is a VIP and cannot stand in the queue to buy tickets.

The issue of ticket dispute came to light
After this statement, the MLAs were heavily criticized on social media and many people even called them ‘glorified beggars’. However, as soon as discussions intensified that the matches were shifted due to ticket dispute, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar rejected the claim. He said that there is no connection between ticket distribution and match shifting.

Shivkumar also said that Ahmedabad was chosen because the stadium there is bigger and can accommodate more spectators. At the same time, last year, during the celebration of RCB’s victory in Bengaluru, there was a stampede outside the stadium, in which 11 people died. This incident is also being considered an important reason from security point of view.
