Karnataka State Cricket Association reacts after BCCI shifts IPL 2026 final to Ahmedabad
Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) broke its silence on Wednesday to express deep disappointment over BCCI’s decision to shift the IPL 2026 final from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad. As per tradition, Bengaluru was expected to host the final clash as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Are the defending champions. However, the BCCI reallocated the venue without mentioning specific technical reasons, only noting that the transfer “This was due to certain requirements from the local association and officials which were beyond the scope of BCCI’s established guidelines and protocols.।”
At the start of the 2026 season, the KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad had confirmed that Bengaluru had been allocated seven matches, which included five home games for RCB, a playoff and the final. Reacting to the sudden change, the official spokesperson of KSCA Vinay Mrityunjay Said:
“Initially, KSCA expresses that the IPL playoff matches have been allotted to other centres. President Venkatesh Prasad was in touch with BCCI and formally expressed our readiness and keen interest to host the playoffs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium।”
The move comes after last year’s tragic incidents when 11 fans lost their lives during RCB’s title celebrations. Since then, KSCA has undertaken massive renovations and safety improvements in collaboration with franchisees and state officials. Despite five uneventful matches this season, the BCCI has not clarified the specific reasons for the transfer. Nevertheless, Mrityunjay said the association respects BCCI’s ‘prerogative and decision-making power’.
