Harry's only got one way left to make big money - but royal fans are sick of it

As if we needed any more proof, Prince Harry's lack of awareness has grown from a minor character flaw into a full-blown walking disaster.

Despite being left eye-watering sums of money that most of us can only dream of, the latest whispers from the Montecito echo chamber claim that Harry and Meghan are now having to "cut back" on their spending with their number of full-time employees reportedly droppin from 16 to just five.

An astonishing feat, really, given the multi-million-pound inheritance he was left by his mother and the huge, tax-free windfall that the Queen Mother left him when he turned 21 - not forgetting the healthy £7million top-up from the Queen Mother when he reached the big 4-0 less than two years ago.

And, of course, there's their multi-million dollar deals with everyone from Netflix to publishing houses that have given Harry the platform to exploit his family and every strain of "genetic pain" he has ever felt.

It turns out that an independent life free from the confines of his gilded cage is hard to maintain when you have a $14.7million mansion to pay for, a private security detail to fund and a proclivity for court cases that ensures the UK's finest legal minds are never far from their silk robes.

Former People Magazine editor Dan Wakeford spoke to five sources and wrote in his Celebrity Intelligence newsletter that Harry "lacks basic awareness of what things cost", while "Meghan has a sense of how careful they need to be".

Honestly, the irony is thick enough to choke on - Harry was cut off from the bank of dad in his mid-thirties, and yet he is maintaining a lifestyle that he seemingly refuses to downsize, all while battling an ever-burgeoning need to stay relevant.

Unfortunately, the issue is that Harry's only marketable skill - complaining about every slight he has ever felt from his family - hasn't just expired; the stench is lingering and clinging to everything around it, no matter how worthy the cause.

If the cash really is dwindling, it may be time for another reinvention. Don't get me wrong, we all LOVE listening to a man who has never had a 9-5 job lecture us all on workplace wellness, and we are desperately looking forward to Harry and Meghan's scripted polo drama that sounds distinctly like Dame Jilly Cooper's hit Disney+ show, Rivals.

But by now, the public isn't just exhausted of Harry's moaning; we're exasperated. There really are only so many times you can bite the hand that feeds you.

We are watching a 41-year-old man profit from his family's private pain while making misguided claims that he thinks he is still a working royal in one breath, and making another veiled jab at them the next.

It is a masterclass in contradiction. Harry routinely moralises to the world about equality, online safety and the environment from the comfort of a massive estate he didn't build while being sustained by a legacy he continues to disparage, even though they are the reason he keeps answering the phone to enormous cheque after enormous cheque.
