Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) has appealed to the government to extend the ban on afternoon work to three months by 2026. This demand has been made because from June to September it is the hottest here and the safety of the workers is important.

At present, for 2026, the government has fixed a ban of two and a half months from June 15 to August 31. During this period, working outside is completely prohibited from 12 noon to 4 pm. But MWPS wants it to be extended to September 15, as was done in the year 2025. Society chairperson Mona Almoayyed said that they will soon meet the officials and put forward this demand so that the workers get relief during the hottest period between June and September.

If any company breaks this rule, strict action will be taken against them. Violating owners can face fines ranging from 500 to 1,000 Bahraini dinars. Apart from this, there can also be a jail term of three months or both fine and jail. However, certain tasks are excluded from this ban, such as:

  • people providing essential government services
  • People working on safety and security at beaches and swimming pools
  • People carrying out emergency repairs, provided the Ministry has been informed

In the year 2025, this rule was followed very well. According to the report, 99.96% companies followed the rules. A total of more than 17,600 checking campaigns were conducted, in which only 6 violations were found. The Ministry of Labor and the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) had appreciated these steps taken for the safety of workers.
