New Delhi: BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said that his personal assistant Chandranath Rath’s killing was a pre-planned murder and that the assailants did “recee for two to three days” before the attack.
Adhikari’s PA was shot dead by unidentified assailants in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district on Wednesday night. Rath, 41, was attacked at Doharia in the Madhyamgram area on a public road. He served as the executive assistant to the leader of the opposition in the state Assembly.
Talking to reporters outside the hospital where his PA was taken after the attack, Adhikari termed the incident a “cold-blooded murder.” He also said that Bengal Director General of Police (DGP) Siddh Nath Gupta had assured him that the matter would be investigated thoroughly.
“This is a pre-planned murder, and this is what DGP said. A recce was done for 2-3 days and a murdered was fully planned. The police initiated an investigation,” he said.

Condemning the attack, the BJP leader said that the killing of his aide Chandranath Rath was heart-wrenching. He also hit out at the outgoing Mamata Banerjee-led government, saying that the killing is a result of TMC’s “mahajungle raj”.
“We are grieving the loss and are short of words to condemn this incident. We informed Union Home Minister Amit Shah, our national president Nitin Nabin on my aide’s murder. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar talked to the family (of Rath) and the police…The police have found some evidence and they will investigate…”
Adhikari warned that the BJP government will wipe out these criminals after taking charge and also appealed to everyone not to take the law into their own hands.
