Suvendu Adhikari PA Murder Update: The political stir that started after the results of the Assembly elections 2026 in West Bengal now seems to be taking a violent turn. Chandranath Rath was sitting in a moving car, then the chase started

According to sources, Chandranath Rath was traveling in a car when the attackers started chasing him. As soon as the car slowed down in Madhyamgram area, the attackers opened fire. It is being told that four bullets were fired at the chariot, out of which three hit him directly. A person named Buddhadev, who was with him in the car, was also injured.

Chandranath Rath was declared dead after being taken to hospital

There was chaos in the area after the attack. Both were immediately taken to the hospital, but doctors declared Chandranath Rath dead. According to doctors at the hospital, he was hit by several bullets in his chest, which caused serious damage to his heart. A bullet also hit him in the stomach, due to which he could not be saved.

It was a premeditated murder: Suvendu Adhikari

After the incident, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari reached the hospital and called it a “pre-planned murder”. He claimed that recce of Chandranath Rath was conducted 2-3 days before the murder. The official said that information about the case has been given to the party leadership in Delhi and the police have found some important evidence. He also appealed to the supporters not to take the law into their hands and maintain peace. Suvendu Adhikari's brother Dibyendu Adhikari clarified that Suvendu Adhikari was not present in the car at the time of the incident.

BJP's big allegation on TMC, Trinamool said- "There should be a complete investigation"

BJP leader (Swapan Dasgupta) termed the murder as a “targeted political murder” and directly blamed the Trinamool Congress. He says that Chandranath Rath was an important part of Suvendu Adhikari's political network and he was systematically targeted. However, Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh denied the allegations and said that the incident is very serious and there should be an impartial investigation. He said that the culprits should be identified and strict action should be taken.

Police investigation intensified, vehicle used in murder seized

West Bengal DGP Siddharth Nath Gupta said that the police have started investigation and the four-wheeler used in the crime has been seized. Interrogation of many suspects is going on and CCTV footage is also being scrutinized. Meanwhile, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said that no person involved in this crime will be spared. He described it as a “tragic and serious incident” and said the police investigation was progressing rapidly. This murder, which took place before the swearing-in of the new BJP government in Bengal, has made the politics of the state more explosive.
