Mamata Banerjee has refused to resign after BJP's victory in West Bengal. Despite this, BJP will swear in the new Chief Minister on May 9. CM election will be held on Friday, for which Suvendu Adhikari and Dilip Ghosh are the main contenders.

Kolkata: On one hand, TMC leader Mamata Banerjee has made it clear that she will not resign from the post of Chief Minister, while on the other hand, BJP has started preparations for the swearing-in of the new CM. After the landslide victory in the state, BJP will elect its Chief Minister on Friday and the swearing-in ceremony will take place on Saturday.

Now the question arises that if Mamata Banerjee does not resign, how will the new CM take oath? However, BJP leaders are hopeful that some solution to this crisis will be found. In this connection, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who has been made BJP's observer, will reach Kolkata on Thursday. He will meet senior party leaders on Thursday evening and hold the legislature party meeting on Friday. After this, the name of the new Chief Minister will be finalized and announced.

Swearing in at Brigade Ground on 9th May

Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP President Sameek Bhattacharya said on Wednesday, 'The swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister will be held on May 9. This program will start at 10 am at Brigade Parade Ground, Kolkata. According to party sources, many big leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah will attend this swearing-in ceremony.

Discussion of five names for the post of CM

Many names are coming forward in the race for the post of Chief Minister. These include the names of Suvendu Adhikari, who defeated Mamata Banerjee for the second consecutive time, current BJP state president Sameek Bhattacharya, former state president Dilip Ghosh, woman leader Agnimitra Paul and Roopa Ganguly, who played the role of Draupadi in the serial 'Mahabharat'.

Sources say that Suvendu Adhikari's lack of RSS background is a minus point for him. Whereas, Dilip Ghosh comes from RSS background, which is a plus point for him. In such a situation, the advice of RSS will be very important. However, amid the discussion on women's reservation, there is also talk of making a woman the CM, but the possibility of this is said to be very less.
