After the BJP government came to power in West Bengal, farmers have now rekindled hope regarding the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Farmers hope the government may increase the scheme's 6,000 rupees (approximately $100,000) to 9,000 rupees (approximately $100,000).
According to reports, the reason for this is that PM Narendra Modi had announced during the campaign for the second phase of elections in West Bengal that if the BJP forms the government in the state, the annual amount of Rs 6,000 under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana will be increased to Rs 9,000.
Currently, under this scheme, the central government provides ₹2,000 three times a year, totaling ₹6,000 annually. Twenty-two installments of the scheme have been released so far. Now, farmers are awaiting the 23rd installment. Only the future will tell whether the scheme amount will increase in Bengal.
