Penny Lancaster first met husband Rod Stewart back in 1998 when the ITV star was 27 years old at the time.

The Loose Women panellist was dared to ask the rock star for his autograph by her friend and their relationship quickly blossomed after he invited her on his tour as a photographer.

Now, the pair have been married for 19 years after tying the knot back in 2007 and share two children together.

However, when speaking about her first date with her husband, during Thursday's (May 7) episode of Loose Women, Penny spoke about the conscious decision behind her outfit.

She said: "I didn't want to give Rod any wrong impression. I thought, look, we're here, a slow burn relationship, I'm not just going to jump into bed with you like that.

"So on our first date, he always says, 'She turned up with a brown roll neck up to here (her chin), brown trousers, giving no impression of I'm free, I'm available, and I'm up for anything'".

When Kaye Adams asked whether that was a conscious choice, she confessed that it was.

Penn added: "Absolutely! I wanted him to respect me. The first time I slept in bed with him, I wore proper pyjamas all buttoned up like, 'you're not getting in there yet!'".

Elsewhere in the programme, the panel shared what they do that annoys their significant others.

Penny said: "There's one thing that drives him mad, apparently, I can't help myself, I end up finishing his sentences. I think it just shows, my excuse for that or my reasoning behind that one is because we are so intertwined.

"We know what each other are thinking, we consider one another all the time and I'm always compromising and always trying to make peace with everyone and fit all the puzzle pieces together that I just know then end of every story. Sometimes, I just can't help myself! Maybe it's a control thing? I don't know."
