Maruti Suzuki will launch four new 7-seater vehicles by 2027 to gain 50% market share. These include a sub-compact MPV (YDB), a 7-seater Grand Vitara (Y17), an electric MPV (YMC) and the facelift of the Ertiga.

Maruti Suzuki India has set a big target of regaining its 50% market share. To achieve this target, the company is planning to launch 28 new models by 2030-31. These vehicles will come in more than half a dozen powertrain options like petrol, CNG, electric, hybrid, ethanol and flex-fuel. Considering the huge demand for 7-seater family cars in India, the company is preparing to launch four new models by 2027. Let's take a look at these upcoming 7-seater SUVs and MPVs.

Maruti Sub-Compact MPV (YDB)

According to reports, Maruti Suzuki is working on a sub-4 meter MPV (codename: YDB), which will be based on the Suzuki Specia sold in Japan. Although there is no official information about the launch, but it is expected that this compact family car may arrive by the end of 2026. It will be sold through Maruti's Nexa showroom. The design and styling of the Maruti YDB MPV will be different from the Specia and it may not get some features like sliding doors. However, it is expected that the boxy and tall design of the car will remain intact.

7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara (Y17)

Maruti's 7-seater Grand Vitara (codename: Y17) is currently in the testing phase and is expected to be launched in the second half of 2026. This SUV will share many design elements, features, platform and powertrain with its 5-seater model. Also, some styling elements will be taken from eVitara. Compared to the standard model, it will be longer and wider to fit an extra row of seats. It is expected to be powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid powertrain as the 5-seater Grand Vitara.

Maruti Electric MPV (YMC)

Reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki is also working on an electric MPV, which is expected to be launched in 2026 or 2027. This model is codenamed Maruti YMC and will be based on a 'born-EV' architecture. It is expected to share design and powertrain components with the Maruti eVitara.

Maruti Ertiga Facelift

Maruti Suzuki's extremely popular MPV Ertiga is now nearing its mid-life update. Hopefully this update may happen in the coming few months. The new model is likely to get minor cosmetic changes and some new features, while the existing engine options will be retained.
