New Delhi. The second season of ‘Citadel’ is back presenting on OTT platforms, which has once again presented itself to the audience with a massive budget, international scale and stylish action. This series starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden is great to watch, but it proves to be weak in terms of storytelling and emotional resonance.

The story continues from where the first season ended.

Season 2 begins from where the first season ended. This time there is a big twist in the story, Citadel’s real traitor turns out to be Mason Kane (Kyle), who had leaked the agency’s secret information to his mother Dahila. Now the biggest question is that when Nadia Sin comes to know the truth of this deception, what action will she take?

There are twists in the spy drama, but the grip is weak.

There are frequent flashbacks, timeline shifts and many twists inserted in the story, but these things sometimes confuse the audience. Nadia is trying to live a quiet life with her daughter Asha, but the spy world pulls her back. On the other hand, the story continues between characters like Bernard Orlik, Manticore and Paulo Braga, but the lack of emotional connection is clearly visible.

Action and visuals are great, but the effect is incomplete

The strongest aspect of the series is its grand scale and stylish presentation. The locations, camera work and action scenes are very attractive to watch, but at many places they seem repetitive and predictable. Where the action should have been explosive, the story often becomes cold.

Priyanka Chopra became the life of the show

The strongest performance this season has once again been from Priyanka Chopra. Her screen presence as Nadia Sin keeps the series afloat. Despite the weak script, she makes many scenes effective with her acting. The character of Richard Madden, despite being interesting, does not emerge fully.

The balance of emotion and thrill is not right

This is where the series weakens the most. It neither becomes a completely intense spy thriller nor does it hold depth as an emotional family drama. Due to the imbalance between the two, the story seems slow and drawn out at many places.

Story pales in comparison to OTT

In today’s time when the audience has already seen many powerful spy and action dramas, Citadel Season 2 does not leave the same impact due to its polished but light story.

    Final Verdict

Citadel Season 2 is a stylish, high-budget and visually stunning series, but the lack of a strong story and deep emotional connections keeps it from being anything more than an average spy drama. If you just want to see global level action and glamour, then it is worth a watch. But if you expect a strong story and intense thrills, this series will not completely satisfy you.
