India has no personality rights law
Personality rights are all about having control over how your name and image get used, especially for things like ads or endorsements.
India doesn't have a specific law for this yet, but cases like Tharoor's show why it matters.
He's not alone either; celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth have also pushed back against fake endorsements, morphed videos and the unauthorized use of their names, images and voices.
Courts are starting to treat these rights as part of our basic right to privacy and dignity.
