Bengaluru: A 63-year-old passenger from Kerala was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a 24-year-old cabin crew on a flight, police said on Thursday, May 7.
According to police, the incident happened on a Bahrain to Bengaluru flight.
Based on the complaint from the female cabin crew member, the Kempegowda International Airport police registered a case against the accused under section 75(2) (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The incident occurred on May 4, onboard the flight, when the accused allegedly behaved inappropriately with the air hostess, by trying to touch her.
She immediately objected and warned him, and brought the incident to the notice of the flight's captain, officials said. When questioned, he reportedly denied any misconduct and termed it a "friendly contact".
After the flight landed at terminal-2 of the airport, the cabin crew lodged a complaint with the police.
The accused was taken into custody for questioning and was arrested, police said.
