Lucknow, May 7: Heavy rains interrupted the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clash at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Thursday. The heavy rains forced the ground staff to bring the covers on the field. However, the covers have been removed and the match is likely to start soon.
The rain halted the game only for a brief five minutes. The ground staff rushed on the ground with the covers and put it on the pitch. The players also rushed inside as the heavy rains hit the stadium. However, the covers were removed as soon as the players reached inside and the cricketers came out again to resume the play.
The weather interruption halted the play during an important clash for the RCB as they are eyeing the top spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 points table. Players and support staff were seen waiting near the dugout as officials monitored the conditions before resuming the game.
Heavy showers hit the stadium in the second over as RCB captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and elected to field. Josh Hazelwood was bowling the second over when the rain occurred.
