Synopsis

A former employee detailed a toxic work environment where his manager exhibited negativity and disrespect, even celebrating his resignation. The employee endured excessive hours, constant criticism, and pressure to sacrifice personal time. Upon leaving for a healthier opportunity, the manager reportedly cheered loudly in the bathroom, prompting sympathy and advice from Reddit users.

A worker recently shared a disturbing account of workplace toxicity after revealing that his manager openly celebrated the moment he handed in his resignation. Posting on the Reddit community Reddit’s Anti Work forum, the employee explained that after enduring months of exhausting conditions and constant criticism, he finally decided to leave the company for a healthier opportunity.

According to the employee, the atmosphere at the workplace had become unbearable because of his supervisor’s behavior. He described her as one of the most difficult managers he had ever encountered in his professional life. Instead of motivating staff members, she allegedly created an environment filled with negativity, sarcasm, and disrespect. He claimed she often muttered insulting remarks loudly enough for employees to hear and regularly complained about workers taking bathroom breaks.

The employee explained that the manager appeared to expect work to dominate everyone’s lives in the same way it did hers. He and another colleague reportedly faced criticism for maintaining personal lives outside office hours. Long shifts had become routine, with employees frequently expected to work 12 to 16 hours a day, including weekends. According to him, there was also pressure to sacrifice holidays and lunch breaks in order to meet the company’s demands.

Although he admitted making a few mistakes during his time there, he felt the errors were understandable considering the overwhelming workload and the endless stream of responsibilities placed on him. He recalled that some of those mistakes were repeatedly brought up by the manager, even incidents that occurred shortly after he first joined the company.

The turning point came when he secured another job opportunity and decided to resign. Instead of responding professionally, the boss allegedly reacted by applauding and cheering loudly inside the bathroom after hearing the news. The employee later clarified that he did not intend to connect the manager’s personality to her marital or family status, noting that he himself was unmarried and had no children. His frustration, he explained, stemmed from the unhealthy work culture and relentless expectations rather than hard work itself.

Many Reddit users sympathized with the employee and congratulated him for escaping what they described as a deeply toxic workplace. Others encouraged him to provide honest feedback to upper management about the supervisor’s behavior and the company’s high employee turnover.
