Sarke Chunar Song Controversy:Actress Nora Fatehi appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) in New Delhi on Thursday amid the ongoing controversy over the song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ from the film ‘KD: The Devil’. A controversy had arisen regarding the use of obscene lyrics and performance on the song, due to which summons was issued to Nora Fatehi.
A hearing on this entire controversy was held on Thursday in which Nora Fatehi apologized before the Commission. After the hearing, while talking to the media, Nora not only clarified this entire matter but also made a big announcement towards fulfilling her responsibility towards the society. She announced that she would take charge of the education of orphan girls.
‘I apologize…’
According to PTI, Nora said-“It was just a situation I was stuck in and I had no intention of hurting anyone, but as an artiste, I have to fulfill my responsibilities. I definitely apologise, we have put everything in writing. Giving back to the society is very important for us. Therefore, I have decided that we will fund the education of some orphan girls.”
After this statement of Nora, many people on social media are praising her decision.
Why was there controversy over the song ‘Sarke Chunar’?
There was a controversy going on for the last several weeks regarding the song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ from the film ‘KD: The Devil’. The lyrics of the song and some of its scenes were considered objectionable. The complainants alleged that this song is against the dignity and respect of women.
Taking this matter seriously, the National Commission for Women had issued a notice to people associated with the song including Nora Fatehi and actor Sanjay Dutt. The Commission believed that the presentation of women in popular entertainment media should be dignified and such content could have a negative impact on society.
Banned, song removed from YouTube
After the controversy escalated, there was a lot of opposition to the song on social media. Later, after the intervention of the Women’s Commission, this song was also removed from YouTube.
Sanjay Dutt had also apologized
Actor Sanjay Dutt’s name also came up in this controversy. He appeared before the Women’s Commission on 27 April. After the hearing, his lawyer Hemant Shah had told that Sanjay Dutt did not understand the true meaning of the lyrics of the song because it was recorded in another language.
He also said that Sanjay Dutt has apologized and offered to help in the education of 50 tribal children.
