Kolkata. Samajwadi Party national president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav reached West Bengal on Thursday and met Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. During this meeting, Akhilesh addressed Mamata as ‘Didi’ and said that she has not lost. Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee was also present during the meeting. Abhishek welcomed Akhilesh Yadav with a hug.

While talking to the media at the airport, Akhilesh Yadav made a scathing attack on BJP. He said that whatever has happened in Bengal is an attempt to murder democracy. BJP has caused more damage to democracy than anyone has ever done before. Akhilesh further said that Didi is an irritant in the eyes of BJP because she is the voice of half the population. BJP is a party with feudal and patriarchal thinking, which cannot see women moving forward.

He alleged that all the institutions including the Election Commission have lost their credibility. Referring to the by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh said that votes were forcibly stopped there too, and voting took place under pressure in Bengal too.

Election results and Mamta’s decision

BJP has registered a huge victory in this assembly elections. The party captured 207 seats, while Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress was limited to 80 seats. After the results, Mamata Banerjee clearly refused to resign from the post of Chief Minister.

After the election results, incidents of violence have also come to light in Bengal. On Wednesday, the personal assistant of BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari was shot dead. There are reports of violence from many areas of the state. This visit of Akhilesh Yadav is being considered as a message of opposition unity.
