In Hinduism, the act of worshipping deities holds immense importance, not just as a form of devotion but as a practice that must adhere to specific traditions and rules. It is believed that following these rituals can lead to positive outcomes, while neglecting them may result in adverse effects. Therefore, each deity has its own set of guidelines for worship. This is particularly true for Lord Shani (Shani Dev), who is associated with justice and karmic retribution. His worship demands careful observance of certain protocols. A key belief is that worshipping Lord Shani at home is discouraged, based on various mythological stories and religious beliefs. Understanding the reasons behind this prohibition is crucial, especially if one intends to celebrate Shani Jayanti.

Next, bathe the idol with *Panchagavya* or *Panchamrit* (a sacred mixture). Offer *Kumkum* (vermilion) and *Kajal* (kohl) to the idol. Light a lamp filled with mustard oil and place it before Lord Shani, performing worship with incense and the lamp (*Dhup-Deep*). Offering flowers and sweets made with oil is considered auspicious on this day. Devotees should chant mantras dedicated to Lord Shani with sincerity and recite the *Shani Chalisa*. Finally, perform the *Aarti* (ritual waving of lamps) and offer prayers for forgiveness for any mistakes made during the worship.
