There was chaos in Nagpur when suddenly a massive fire broke out in a big car warehouse located in Khairi village. Within no time the fire took such a huge form that the entire complex was surrounded by smoke and flames. When people present nearby saw black smoke rising into the sky, panic spread in the area. Within a few minutes, hundreds of old vehicles parked there caught fire and started burning one by one.
This incident, which happened amid the scorching heat, has also increased the concern of the administration. According to initial information, more than 400 old cars, tyres, spare parts and other inflammable items were burnt to ashes in the accident. The fire spread so fast that the employees present on the spot hardly had time to get out. Although it is a matter of relief that no one died in this accident, the loss is estimated to be worth crores of rupees.
How did such a big fire break out in Khairi village of Nagpur?
This entire incident is being told about a big vehicle warehouse located on Khairi-Kanhan road in Nagpur rural area. Old and second hand cars were traded here. The warehouse contained a large number of damaged vehicles, cars kept for repair, old tyres, batteries, plastic parts and other items.
According to eyewitnesses, smoke was suddenly seen rising from a part of the warehouse on Thursday afternoon. Initially people thought that there would be a minor short circuit, but within a few minutes the fire spread rapidly. The fire took a severe form due to the intense heat and inflammable materials.
People say that the fire grew so fast that the employees could not understand anything. Sounds like explosions started coming from many vehicles, due to which even the people living nearby got scared. The high flames of the fire were visible from several kilometers away.
More than 400 vehicles burnt to ashes, loss worth crores
The biggest loss in this accident was to the old cars parked in the warehouse. According to initial estimates, more than 400 vehicles were completely burnt. There were many vehicles among them which were ready for sale.
Apart from this, spare parts, seat covers, tyres, engine oil and other automobile items kept in the warehouse were also destroyed in the fire. Due to the fire the surrounding temperature had suddenly increased significantly. Local people said that for some time there was a thick layer of smoke in the entire area.
Experts believe that if adequate security arrangements are not made in such warehouses, the risk of fire increases further. Especially in summer, tyres, plastic and petrol-diesel items catch fire very quickly. This was the reason that within some time the entire complex was engulfed in fire.
The fire department brought it under control after hours of effort.
As soon as information about the incident was received, fire department teams reached the spot. About 15 fire brigade vehicles were called from Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Kamthi and surrounding areas.
The biggest challenge before the fire fighters was to stop the fire from spreading. Because inflammable material was also present around the warehouse. Water was sprayed continuously for several hours. The fire was so terrible that even the fire fighters had to take extreme precautions.
According to the officials present at the spot, if the fire was not controlled in time, other warehouses and houses nearby could also have been affected. After a long operation the fire was finally controlled.
