Heinrich Klaasen has revealed that his success in IPL 2026 has come from shifting focus away from chasing high strike-rates and instead batting according to match situations.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad batter, who scored 69 off 43 balls in the win over Punjab Kings, said he no longer feels the need to score at an extreme strike-rate every innings and now prioritises partnerships and game awareness.
Klaasen currently tops the IPL 2026 run charts with 494 runs in 11 matches at an average of 54.89 and a strike-rate of 157.32. He also confirmed there is no plan to return to international cricket, saying he has “made peace” with retirement. SRH next face Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
