Aranthodu: A private bus travelling from Bengaluru to Kukke Subrahmanya via Sullia went out of control and crashed into a roadside embankment after the driver reportedly suffered a heart attack near Katikeri close to Madikeri in the early hours of May 8.
The driver died in the incident, while all passengers escaped unharmed.
According to reports, the private bus had left Bengaluru on Thursday night for Kukke Subrahmanya. While passing through Katikeri after crossing Madikeri on Friday morning, driver Shivakumar reportedly suffered a heart attack near a curve on the road.
The bus lost control, moved to the side of the road and came to a halt after hitting the embankment. Shivakumar died while seated in the driver’s seat.
It is learnt that despite suffering the heart attack, Shivakumar attempted to stop the vehicle and steered it towards the roadside embankment to avoid a major accident.
