Tamil Nadu Government Formation: Big news has come out regarding the new government in Tamil Nadu. Actor Vijay Thalapathi’s TVK had emerged as the largest party by winning 108 seats in the 234-member assembly. After the support of Congress, the number of alliance reached 112 MLAs, but the party needed six seats from the figure of 118 required for majority. Now amidst the ongoing political uncertainty regarding government formation, CPM, CPI and VCK have decided to support Vijay.
Earlier on Tuesday, Vijay had met Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and staked claim to form the government. In a statement issued by Raj Bhavan after the meeting, it was said that Vijay has accepted that TVK currently does not have the required numbers to form the government.
After this, for the second consecutive day, TVK chief Vijay met Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, but the Governor bluntly told him that the oath would be taken only after proving majority. Small parties have become support for Vijay, who is stuck five seats away from majority. With the support of VCK and Left, the way for government formation is now clear.
