April's ICC Player of the Month Nominees Announced

The shortlist for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for April features Bangladesh's fast bowler Nahid Rana, Oman captain Jatinder Singh, and Ajay Kumar, a left-arm seamer from the United Arab Emirates.


Women's Player of the Month Candidates

In the women's category, South Africa's captain Laura Wolvaardt, Sri Lankan batter Imesha Dulani, and Brazilian all-rounder Laura Cardosa are contenders for the award, as announced in an ICC media release.


Men's Player of the Month Details

Nahid Rana earned his spot on the men's shortlist due to his outstanding performance in a three-match ODI series against New Zealand, where he was named Player of the Series. Jatinder Singh's impressive contributions in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 in Nepal also secured him a nomination, while Ajay Kumar's remarkable start to his ODI career in the same series contributed to his selection.


Women's Player of the Month Details

Laura Wolvaardt, who recently received two awards within three months, is nominated again after her excellent performances in an ODI series against New Zealand and a T20I series against India. Imesha Dulani shone during an ODI and T20I tour of Bangladesh, while Laura Cardosa made headlines by becoming the first player to take nine wickets in a T20I.


ICC Men's Player of the Month Shortlist Nahid Rana (Bangladesh)

The 23-year-old bowler took eight wickets with an economy rate of 4.46, earning the Player of the Series title as Bangladesh triumphed over New Zealand 2-1 in their home ODI series. His standout performance included a five-wicket haul of 5 for 32 in the second match in Mirpur, which Bangladesh won by 55 runs, and he concluded the series with two wickets in the final match in Chattogram.


Jatinder Singh (Oman)

As the captain and opener for Oman, Singh scored a total of 266 runs at an average of 53.20 and an impressive strike rate of 115.15 in ODIs during the month. He began with a score of 51 against Scotland and capped off the month with a remarkable 139 off 91 balls against Nepal in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2, marking the highest ODI score by an Oman player.


Ajay Kumar (United Arab Emirates)

The left-arm seam bowler from the UAE took nine wickets at an economy of 3.66. He achieved outstanding figures of 3 for 34 against Nepal and 6 for 35 against Oman in his first two career ODIs during the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2.


ICC Women's Player of the Month Shortlist Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa)

Wolvaardt, who previously won the award in October and December, continued her excellent form in both white-ball formats. She scored 69 runs in each of the last two ODIs against New Zealand and led her team to a 4-1 T20I series victory over India, where she notched a century and three half-centuries.


Imesha Dulani (Sri Lanka)

Dulani was named Player of the Series in a 2-1 victory over Bangladesh in their ICC Women's Championship series, scoring a total of 116 runs. She followed this with 82 runs in two T20Is, including a rapid 55 off 40 balls in the first match of the series.


Laura Cardoso (Brazil)

Cardoso had an impressive run in T20Is, scoring 203 runs at a strike rate exceeding 130 across seven matches, which featured half-centuries against Botswana and Zambia. She also took 17 wickets at an economy rate of just 2.24, achieving remarkable figures of 9 for 4 against Lesotho.
