The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an advisory for candidates appearing in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2026, detailing the dress code and items permitted inside examination centres.
The CUET-UG 2026 examination will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode from May 11 to May 31 across India and in 15 cities abroad.
In the advisory issued on Thursday, the NTA said candidates will be allowed to carry transparent water bottles to the exam centres. It also clarified that articles or objects of faith will be permitted, provided candidates report to the centre early for proper frisking.
"It is emphasised that religious threads such as 'kalava' are allowed," the agency said.
The NTA further advised candidates to preferably wear light-coloured clothing and added that woollens may be worn if required, subject to early reporting for frisking procedures.
Candidates have also been advised to opt for normal shoes, slippers or low-heeled footwear while appearing for the examination.
