Amidst the news of Gautam Gambhir becoming the head coach, Sairaj Bahutule can become the spin bowling coach of Team India. Gambhir himself has selected him for this post. Bahutule, who is the coach of Punjab Kings in the IPL, may join the team soon.

Mumbai: Amidst the news of Gautam Gambhir becoming the head coach of the Indian cricket team, now big information has come to light regarding his coaching staff. According to reports, Punjab Kings spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule is all set to be a part of Gautam Gambhir's coaching team. It is being told that Gambhir himself spoke to Bahutule and convinced him to take over the post of spin bowling coach of Team India.

Sairaj Bahutule is currently handling the spin department of Punjab Kings under Ricky Ponting in IPL. As soon as this season ends, he will terminate his contract with Punjab. Gambhir is very impressed with Bahutule's coaching methods and that is why he wants to bring him into the national team. It is reported that Bahutule has also completed talks with senior BCCI officials.

Working with Team India is nothing new for Bahutule. Earlier when Rahul Dravid was the coach, he was with the team during the Sri Lanka tour and the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Before Punjab Kings, he had also worked with Rajasthan Royals. Apart from this, he has also played the role of coach in BCCI's Center of Excellence.

In 2014, Sairaj Bahutule was the head coach of Kerala cricket team. Later he also trained the Bengal team. Bahutule, who has played 2 Tests and 8 ODIs for India, is considered one of the best all-rounders in domestic cricket. He has taken 630 wickets in his 188 first-class matches and scored 6176 runs with 9 centuries. He has also played for Surrey in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Andhra, Assam, Vidarbha and English County.

It is believed that Bahuli will join Gambhir's coaching staff from the one-off Test match against Afghanistan starting from June 6. After this, Team India also has to play three ODIs against Afghanistan and two T20 matches against Ireland at the end of June. It is expected that with the arrival of Bahutule, the spin bowling of the Indian team will become even stronger.
