The off-field drama of the 2026 Indian Premier League is heating up as reports indicate that both the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) are cracking down on player behavior to uphold the integrity of the franchise and the tournament. 

According to Dainik Jagran, one franchise has imposed a temporary ban on a specific player’s vlogging during the tournament. Additionally, another player from the same team, who was caught smoking, missed his flight to Dharmashala yesterday and will be joining the team later today. 

It’s not hard to connect the dots and realize that the team in question is the Punjab Kings, with Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal being the two players in the spotlight. Arshdeep has a significant social media presence, creating short reels and sharing behind-the-scenes content that cricket fans in the country love. However, PBKS has decided to put a temporary halt on his vlogging to keep things more professional off the field. 

Earlier this week, a video went viral showing Chahal vaping or smoking on an aircraft, which is against the law. He’s the player mentioned in the reports about someone missing their flight to Dharamshala.

But PBKS isn’t the only team enforcing strict rules to maintain off-field decorum. According to the same report, DC has allowed players' families and support staff to take photos and videos at the team hotel to capture memories, but they can’t share them on social media until the tournament wraps up. 

This comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made it clear that no player should breach the guidelines, stating that no one, regardless of their relationship to a team member or their purpose, is allowed entry into a player’s or support staff member’s hotel room without the Team Manager’s prior knowledge and explicit written approval.
