Kunal Khemu is officially returning to the chaotic world of Madgaon Express. After the first film became one of the most loved surprise comedy hits of 2024, the actor-filmmaker has now confirmed that Madgaon Express 2 is currently being written. What began as a quirky crime comedy soon turned into a major crowd favourite, with audiences repeatedly revisiting its funniest scenes, dialogues, and unpredictable moments long after its theatrical run ended. Following the film’s box office success and multiple Filmfare nominations, excitement around the Madgaon Express sequel is already beginning to build once again.

Kunal Khemu recently confirmed that work on the sequel has already started. After receiving widespread praise for his directorial debut, the filmmaker now appears ready to revisit the same chaotic comedy universe that connected strongly with audiences last year.

The original film, starring Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu, and Avinash Tiwary, received positive reviews for its humour, performances, and complete unpredictability. What made the film stand out was the way it blended madness, crime, friendship, and comedy without trying too hard to be conventional.

Apart from becoming a word-of-mouth success, Madgaon Express also performed well commercially. The film reportedly earned around ₹57 crore worldwide and later received four nominations at the 70th Filmfare Awards, including Best Debut Director for Kunal Khemu.

Reports suggest that the Madgaon Express 2 cast will likely include the return of the original trio, Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu, and Avinash Tiwary. The sequel is also expected to bring a fresh layer of madness and “more exciting vibes” to the story this time.

Interestingly, Divyenndu had already hinted at the sequel during promotions for one of his recent OTT projects. The actor had mentioned that “KK” was actively working on the script for the second instalment, long before the official confirmation arrived.

Meanwhile, Kunal has also been busy shooting for Golmaal 5 alongside Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor, and the ensemble cast.

Madgaon Express marked an important phase in Kunal Khemu’s career. While audiences had always known him as an actor, the film introduced him as a filmmaker capable of handling comedy with confidence, chaos, and emotional warmth all at once.

Produced by Excel Entertainment, the first film also featured Nora Fatehi, Upendra Limaye, and Chhaya Kadam in important roles. With the sequel now officially in development, fans are already eager to see where the madness heads next.
