Delhi Capitals face Kolkata Knight Riders in the 51st match of IPL 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The contest will have huge ramifications for both teams' playoff chances with no margin for error. Delhi is in a precarious position of seventh after a difficult home campaign, while KKR have revived their slow start with three wins on the bounce, they can't afford to lose another match as the tournament enters its final stretch.
Back at home, DC will be looking to reverse a miserable run of four defeats at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In fact, different pitches at the venue have contributed to DC's troubles this season - while they failed to defend 264, they were later bowled out for just 75 at another stage, and batting combinations have rotated frequently.
A lack of consistency apart from a fluent KL Rahul at the top order and another poor season with the ball for Kuldeep Yadav have characterized their season, while KKR seem to have turned their fortunes at the perfect moment. Their batting remains largely dependent on Rinku Singh however, but the comeback from a difficult period for Varun Chakravarthy has given them real belief.
The wicket will be the same used for DC's 264 total in earlier fixtures this season and hence, another high scoring encounter is likely. Expect the boundaries to be plundered as batters enjoy a flat surface, though cleverly changed pace will still reward bowlers in the middle overs and a heavy layer of dew should ensure batting becomes easier under lights again. With playoffs the prize and with it a place in the business end of the tournament, expect a fast start.
At the toss, Kolkata have won and chose to bowl first.
