Dhubri, May 8: A tragic accident occurred on Friday in the Jogamaya Ghat area of Dhubri, resulting in the deaths of two construction workers and leaving another in critical condition after they fell from a newly built three-storey structure.

Local reports indicate that the workers were performing masonry tasks on the upper levels when the incident took place around noon.

The deceased have been identified as Afzal Hussain and Azizur Sheikh, both of whom sustained serious injuries from the fall.

"Three workers fell from the building in Jogamaya Ghat. Two have died, and one is critically injured. One was a mason, and the other was a helper. The accident happened around 12 pm. We have filed a report at Dhubri Sadar Police Station," stated a relative of the victims.

Emergency services transported the injured to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital, but unfortunately, both succumbed to their injuries, while the third worker remains in a critical state.

The local community is in shock, with family members expressing concerns over negligence and demanding accountability.

An FIR has been registered at Dhubri Sadar Police Station, prompting police to launch an investigation into the events surrounding the accident.

Family members have also mentioned that construction activities at the site had been halted for several months and only resumed on the day of the incident.

Authorities are currently examining whether proper safety protocols were adhered to at the construction site during the time of the accident.
