For many young men, the dream of marriage is a long-held aspiration, often envisioned years in advance. Unfortunately, not everyone is fortunate enough to find a partner, leading some to search tirelessly for a suitable bride. One such individual is Sonu Jain from the Gorami area of Bhind, Madhya Pradesh, who faced significant challenges due to his disability, making it difficult for him to find a bride.
A Promising Encounter
During his search, Sonu met Udal Khatik from Gwalior, who assured him that he could arrange a marriage for him. However, Udal demanded a hefty sum of one lakh rupees in return. Feeling lonely and desperate, Sonu agreed to pay 90,000 rupees to secure the deal.
The Wedding Day
Udal brought a woman named Anita Ratnakar to Sonu's home, accompanied by Arun Khatik and Jitendra Ratnakar, whom she introduced as her brothers. The families soon met, and the wedding was arranged. A few days later, the ceremony took place at Sonu's residence, where he and Anita received blessings from their families before retiring for the night.
The Disappearance
While Jitendra and Arun slept outside the room, Anita claimed she was unwell and went to sleep on the roof. In the middle of the night, when Sonu and his family awoke, they discovered that the bride was missing. Panic ensued as they searched for her, while Anita prepared to escape by jumping from the roof. However, she was apprehended by patrolling police officers.
Seeking Justice
Sonu reported the incident to the Gorami police, alleging fraud. Following his complaint, authorities filed a case against Udal Khatik, Jitendra Ratnakar, Arun Khatik, and Anita Ratnakar, among others. Three of the suspects have been arrested, and investigations are ongoing. Sonu remains in disbelief that the woman he had just married turned out to be a con artist who exploited his disability.
A Cautionary Tale
Sonu's experience is not unique; many individuals fall victim to similar scams involving deceitful brides. If you are struggling to find a partner and are considering paying someone for marriage, exercise caution. It is crucial to thoroughly investigate the background of any potential bride before proceeding. If you have any doubts, do not rush into a commitment. Ensure that you vet the bride's family as well, as a single misstep could lead to significant financial loss. Stay vigilant and cautious.
