After the historic victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal and the election of Suvendu Adhikari as the leader of the legislature party, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp political attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Shah said that this time Mamata Banerjee has been defeated in her own stronghold Bhawanipur. During his address after the BJP legislature party meeting in Kolkata, Amit Shah said, “Didi, this time Suvendu da has come to your house and defeated you.”

After being elected leader of the BJP legislature party, Suvendu Adhikari is now going to become the next Chief Minister of West Bengal. On this occasion, Home Minister Amit Shah described BJP’s victory in Bengal as not just an electoral success but an ideological victory.

The Union Home Minister said that for the last several decades, the culture and traditions of Bengal have been influenced by foreign ideologies and now it is the responsibility of the BJP to revive them. “It is now our responsibility to reinvigorate the legacy of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda and poet guru Rabindranath Tagore. This mandate brings with it the responsibility to work with humility and a sense of duty,” he said.

He further said that this victory of Bengal is the result of an ideological journey of almost a hundred years. Referring to the growing strength of BJP in the state, Shah also mentioned the removal of Article 370. Amit Shah said, “When Article 370 was removed, there was joy in the entire country, but some senior workers said that something is still incomplete. When I asked what is left, they said that the BJP flag is not yet firmly established in Bengal.”

He further said that today he is confident that wherever Shyama Prasad Mukherjee is, he will be blessing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership for taking the party to this point and fulfilling the long-term aspiration of the BJP in Bengal.
