mumbai: Vicky Kaushal’s films suddenly seem more interesting than two days ago. Until this week, things about him were looking a little worrying. Reports claimed that Vicky will wrap up ‘Love & War’ and then move straight into Amar Kaushik’s ‘Mahavatar’, a film that reportedly requires around 18 months of preparation and shooting. To put it simply, the Bollywood gossip circles have put them in a long tunnel till 2028, with hardly any breathing space in between.

For an actor like Vicky, this is both exciting and risky. Big films bring scale, but long gaps can quietly kill visibility. In today’s industry, talent alone cannot keep the buzz alive. You need movement, noise, presence, and at least one project that will get the audience talking.

The sequel to 3 Idiots is not a random multistarrer. It has nostalgia, curiosity and tremendous recall value. If Vicky comes into that universe, he’ll find the perfect middle ground: a strong franchise, a safe cast, and plenty of spotlight, without having to shoulder the entire pressure of the box office.

This also fits Vicky’s career pattern. He knows how to shine when the setup around him is strong. Be it Sanju, Raazi or big-scale films like Love and War, he understands the group space of actors better than many of his contemporary actors.

The real question is only about dates. If Love & War and Mahavatar are already on their calendars, fitting in 4 Idiots will require smart planning. But the timing of this news says a lot. When people started saying that Vicky is stuck with two films till 2028, the “4th Idiot” update came as a proper plot twist.

If Rajkumar Hirani gets his mojo back and Aamir Khan returns in full form, this could be Vicky’s smartest move before going completely mythological with Mahavatar.
