Sunil Pal revealed in a recent interview that he was not mentally prepared for whatever happened during the show. Sunil told, “I was told that Samay and Ranveer would be on the show and I would have to perform standup there. I had gone with my preparation, but there was no standup there. I was not prepared for what happened instead.” He further said that he would not call it ‘cheating’, but what happened to him was not what he had expected.

Surprisingly, Sunil Pal’s attitude was quite positive right after the episode was telecast. Then he had said that it is normal to pull each other’s legs in comedy shows and he did not find the talk of the times insulting. But now it is clear from his latest statement that he was feeling uncomfortable with this roasting behind the camera.

Gen-Z objection to comedy and abuses

Sunil Pal clarified that he has no personal enmity with anyone, rather this is a ‘battle of ideas’. Taking aim at all the new age comedians including Samay Raina, he said, “I have a problem with those Gen-G comedians who do comedy only on the basis of abuses. If you have talent, education and big platforms, then your content should be better.”

What was the root of Samay-Sunil controversy?

Let us tell you that the dispute between these two is old. Last year, after a comment made on Ranveer Allahabadia’s parents in Samay Raina’s show ‘India’s Got Latent’, Sunil Pal had called Samay a lot of good and bad on social media. The matter had escalated so much that Sunil even used harsh words like ‘terrorist’ for him. The face-to-face confrontation between the two on Kapil’s show was an attempt to end this bitterness, which now seems to be turning into a new debate.
