A disturbing case has emerged from Champawat, Uttarakhand, where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped during a wedding ceremony. The victim was discovered bound and locked in a room, while the three accused remain at large.

In a tragic turn of events, the young girl attended a wedding with a friend and became a victim of a brutal gang rape by three individuals, including her own friend. According to police reports, the assailants threatened her with a knife and subsequently restrained her with ropes, leaving her in an abandoned room. She was later found in a state of distress, with her hands and feet tied.
Concerns Over Women's Safety
This incident has raised serious concerns regarding the safety of women in the area. The victim, who works at a local shop, informed her family that she was attending a wedding on the evening of May 5. However, she did not return home until late at night. When her father called her, she confirmed she was still at the wedding.
Rescue Operation
Around 1:30 AM, the girl managed to call her father, but the call was abruptly disconnected, and her phone was turned off. Alarmed, her father contacted the police. Early Wednesday morning, local authorities and villagers rescued her from a locked room in Salli village, where she was found terrified and bound.
Identifying the Accused
The victim identified three individuals involved in the crime: Vinod Singh Rawat (20), her friend from Salli village, along with Naveen Singh (30) and Pooran Singh Rawat (45), a local BJP leader. They allegedly threatened her with a knife and took turns assaulting her before tying her up and fleeing. A case has been registered against them at the Champawat police station, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects.

According to the local police chief, the investigation has been assigned to Sub-Inspector Priyanka Maurya, who is collecting forensic evidence from the crime scene.
