Urgent recalls for Dunelm item, children's toys and popular travel mugs - full list

Several urgent product recall alerts have been issued this week for widely-sold items. Shoppers have been warned to stop using the affected products immediately, as they could present a health hazard.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has published multiple recall notices, involving major UK retailers including Dunelm, Asda and Sainsbury's. Products affected range from doorstops to children's craft kits and thermal mugs. A number of the items may contain asbestos, a banned substance which carries a significant health risk.

Disposal guidance has been provided by the OPSS and the retailers concerned.

Dunelm doorstops

Twenty-seven doorstops sold between 2019 and 2026 have been recalled from the homeware retailer due to a safety concern. Dunelm said: "These products were sold online and in stores between January 2019 and February 2026.

"We have identified a safety and non-compliance issue with the doorstops. The sand sealed within the product may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos. Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure."

Anyone with the doorstops has been advised to discontinue use immediately and dispose of them in a heavy-duty plastic bag. Should the product be damaged, collect the sand using damp cloths to prevent dust from spreading.

Wear gloves and a mask. Place the sand and remaining product in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double-bagging it and sealing it securely with double tape, along with the gloves, mask and cloths. Either dispose of the sealed bag or return it to Dunelm for a full refund.

Children's toys

Hunter Price's Crayola-Branded Touchy Feely Craft Box and Hunter Price's Crayola-Branded Discovery Craft Box have been recalled. Both items pose a health risk as sand contained within the kits may be contaminated with asbestos.

The Touchy Feely Craft Box is described as a colourful box containing various craft items. It was stocked by retailers including Asda, Bargainmax, CJS Trade Limited, Cloud Nine Boutique Ltd, Geeantee Wholesale, Sainsbury's, Scottish Midland Cooperative, and The Works.

The Discovery Craft Box, meanwhile, was available from retailers including Asda, BargainMax, CJS Trade Limited, Sainsbury's, Scottish Midland Co-Operative, The Works, and Vape-Superstore Limited.

The OPSS added: "We recommend owners stop using this product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children." Place the items in a double bag and contact the retailer for their refund instructions.

Travel mugs

Over eight million Thermos-branded travel mugs have been recalled following reports of customers sustaining serious injuries, including blindness.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the warning, cautioning that a dangerous defect could cause the travel mug's lid stopper to eject violently upon opening. Safety officials have warned that, once opened, pressure can accumulate within the container, which may then propel the stopper outwards with considerable force.

The recall covers two widely used product ranges: Stainless King food jars and Sportsman food and beverage bottles. In total, approximately 5.8 million food jars and 2.3 million bottles are affected.
