A shocking incident has emerged from Aligarh, where a young woman's life was saved by her aunt's bravery during a crocodile attack. This event took place near the Kali River, where the aunt displayed remarkable courage to rescue her niece.
Details of the Attack
In the Atrauli area of Aligarh, an 18-year-old girl named Suman was attacked by a crocodile while cutting fodder for livestock. The crocodile suddenly lunged at her, grabbing her arm and attempting to drag her into the river. Witnessing this, her aunt, Trepa Devi, acted swiftly and struck the crocodile's eyes multiple times with a sickle, forcing it to release Suman and retreat back into the water.
Injuries and Immediate Response
Following the incident, nearby villagers rushed to the scene. Suman was quickly taken to the community health center in Atrauli for initial treatment. Due to severe injuries on both arms, she was later referred to the district hospital in Aligarh for advanced care.
Rising Crocodile Threat in the Area
The attack has instilled fear among the local community. Residents have reported an increasing number of crocodiles in the Kali River, posing a constant threat to farmers and women collecting fodder. Despite previous sightings, there has been no effective action from the forest department to address this issue. Villagers are now urging authorities to initiate a campaign to capture the crocodiles and enhance safety measures along the riverbank to prevent future incidents.
