Prince Harry caught in 'huge royal battle' as he braces for major UK return

Prince Harry is reportedly caught in a "huge royal battle" as his major return to the UK this summer is being approached differently by King Charles and Prince William, it has been claimed. The Duke of Sussex is expected to return to his home country in July to attend a one-year countdown event for the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 and the WellChild awards.

Rumours have been swirling about whether Harry will bring back his two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as well as his wife, Meghan Markle, with him. The Sussexes have not visited the UK as a family since 2022, when they all came back for the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Harry and Meghan made another trip to the UK that year, a few months later, to attend the late Queen's funeral.

But now, ahead of his return in the summer, reports claimed there's a debate in the Palace which will lead toward a "showdown at Sandringham," as the Prince of Wales wants to play "no part" in the Sussexes' return, while the King reportedly longs for a type of reconciliation.

According to sources, the monarch wants to "broker peace" between the two feuding brothers and spend time with his grandchildren, whom he has rarely seen since their move to the US, at the royals' summer estate in Norfolk.

A source told Radar Online: "Charles is at the point where he wants to forgive Harry and find a path forward, but William simply won't hear of it, no matter what his father says.

"It's become a huge battle because William carries enormous influence behind the scenes.

"And the truth is, many within the Firm still believe Harry and Meghan are toxic - so Charles doesn't have much support when it comes to welcoming them back."

It's long been reported that William holds a tougher stance on his estranged brother being welcomed back into the royal fold.

Harry and Meghan's relationship with the Firm became particularly frosty after they made a series of claims against them, following their sensational departure.

But in recent years, there have been efforts by both the Sussex camp and the King's camp to find a possible path that could lead to a type of reconciliation in the future.

Despite that, sources said that William is "strongly opposed" to any reconciliation, with the monarch "reluctant to override his son's position".
